Fanny Coignard 10:00 – 11:00 am

 ABSTRACT We will give an overview of Orbit Intelligence new features and will demonstrate Orbit BioSequence’s new Variant analysis interface which allows one to analyze, view, manipulate variations across multiple sequence results altogether.  BIOGRAPHY Fanny Coignard has a biotechnology engineer degree (MSc) from the E.S.B.S. (Strasbourg University) and has joined Questel in 2019 as a Subject Matter Expert, specialized in IP tools, including Orbit Intelligence, Orbit Insight and Orbit Asset. Before joining Questel, Fanny worked as a Patent Information Specialist at Pfizer for almost 15 years. Fanny was specialized in biotechnology related patent questions, including sequence analysis. She also worked as a research scientist for 6 years at British Biotech (Oxford, U.K.), Epigene (Paris, France) and Exonhit Therapeutics (Paris, France) where she gained experience in molecular biology, cell biology, bioinformatics, and proteomics.

Aptean: GenomeQuest – What’s New in 2022 Steve Allen 11:15 am – 12:15 pm

 ABSTRACT The GenomeQuest team has been busy preparing for 2022. During our workshop will discuss the upcoming additions to GenomeQuest including adding ST.26 format as our input source and as a source for launching sequence searches. We will also highlight current and planned updates to the system, and demonstrate our informatics platform that includes features like sequence variation detection and report based antibody searching.  BIOGRAPHY Steve Allen joined Aptean GenomeQuest in September of 2017, he is the Solutions Consultant for GenomeQuest & LifeQuest. Steve previously worked at Dupont and his background includes work in a patent group and work as a computational biologist in an agricultural discovery group. Steve has been working with sequence data of one form or another for over 30 years.

 ABSTRACT Come see the best new features in BizInt Smart Charts for Patents from 2021. From hit term highlighting in backing records to cell color coding, a new Reference Rows workflow including the long-requested “hide Reference Rows” command, and a new BizInt export from STNext, there is something for everyone. As always, we will have time for your questions and requests at the end.  BIOGRAPHY JohnWillmore is Vice President, Product Development, for BizInt Solutions, Inc. and manages the development of all aspects of the BizInt Solutions product line. John has over 25 years of experience in processing, analyzing and integrating patent and drug pipeline information, and has worked closely with patent and drug pipeline publishers over that period. He was the head of the TRW Smart Charts team at TRW, Inc. and along with Diane Webb, founded BizInt Solutions in 1996. John has a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Rice University and over 30 years experience in software development. John spends his free time doing woodworking, playing amateur ice hockey, and competing with the dogs. He is an American Kennel Club judge for earthdog, dachshund field trials, and agility.

STN: What’s New in STNext Darryl French and JimBrown 2:15 - 3:15 pm

 ABSTRACT This session will cover the latest database improvements and developments on STNext, including content updates and new functionality. Reload of GENESEQ, PATGENE and USGENE® and the Biosequence Search Module for CAS REGISTRY® JimBrown and John Kratunis 3:15 - 4:15 pm  ABSTRACT The sequence searchable databases GENESEQ, PATGENE and USGENE have undergone total reloads on the STNext platform. As a result of these reloads, the databases are able to complete searches in less time, and new BLAST search options are now available. This session will describe the improvements to these databases due to the reloads, and how best to take advantage of these new features. The session will also cover the new CAS Biosequence module for BLAST, CDR, and Motif searching of Registry, including options for exporting and creating reports.  BIOGRAPHIES Darryl French is a Customer Success Specialist at CAS, where he helps train and support accounts with the SciFinder Discovery Platform, the STN IP Protection Suite and CAS Scientific Patent Explorer. An organic chemist, he worked at the USPTO as a prior art searcher for four years before coming to CAS as a document analyst before moving into his current role. JimBrown is presently the Senior Key Account Manager for FIZ Karlsruhe in the U.S. His current duties at FIZ Karlsruhe Inc. include sales, customer trainings, authoring workshop manuals and presentations, and representing FIZ at conferences and exhibits. Jimwas on the PIUG Board of Directors from June 2010 to June 2012 in the position of secretary; from June 2012 to June 2016 he served on the PIUG Board of Directors as Vice-Chair. John Kratunis is Manager of the Customer Success Specialists in North America for CAS. John has been with CAS for over 17 years, and in chemical informatics for nearly 30 years, after starting as a bench chemist in the pharmaceutical industry.
